The Ogino-Knaus method
With the following ovulation calculator that we have made for you you can calculate your fertile days and estimate the date when you will ovulate. All you need to do is enter the average length of your menstrual cycle and the date of your last menstrual period.
The calculator is based on the Ogino-Knaus method, which is a probabilistic method, i.e. it calculates probabilities.

CAUTION: This tool cannot and should not be used to prevent pregnancy. Pregnancy 360° assumes no responsibility for the use of the calculator.
If you have a very variable cycle, the probable ovulation period calculated with this method becomes necessarily unreliable.
Fourteen days before menstruation is the period in which the oocyte matures under the stimulus of female hormones and is released into the fallopian tube where it can be fertilized if it encounters sperm.
There are several other methods for calculating ovulation and the fertile period.
The basal temperature method
Basal temperature is the temperature that is measured in basal conditions, i.e. when you wake up in the morning.
As you surely know, a change in temperature very often indicates a physiological imbalance: estrogen and progesterone influence the basal temperature, on which the activity of the ovaries strictly depends and, consequently, the formation of the female oocyte.
There can be many reasons for a change in basal temperature (infections in progress, stress, food eaten, etc.), not necessarily related to changes in female hormones.
For the measurement of the basal temperature there are simple thermometers (we recommend the digital ones) which can be purchased in pharmacies or parapharmacies for a few euros.
The peak of the estrogen level, which occurs just before ovulation, corresponds to a lowering of the basal temperature. This is the fertile period.
Ovulation tests
Ovulation tests allow you to predict ovulation in advance. There are different types.
Some measure only the amount of LH hormone, others also the amount of estadiol.
The different types of tests on the market have different methods of use, and provide different information, and also as regards the “warning” about the start of ovulation, they give different times.
Whichever ovulation test you decide to buy, it is important that you read carefully how to use it.
The cervical mucus method
Mucus changes reflect hormonal fluctuations and, thanks to them, it can be determined when ovulation occurs;
The method of the position of the cervix
The position of the cervix varies according to the hormonal changes that occur during the menstrual cycle. Learning to recognize these changes allows you to recognize your fertile days.
